Can you exhaust a RES?

Does anyone know if you keep going back to the same RES can you make it 'safe' so that no more pirates go there. Maybe I'm just impatient but there never seems to be any bad guys to shoot any more.

No, never noticed one to exhaust. I think the pirates just keep coming at you, wait a bit or fly around the res and you should find some.

You won't exhaust it, but you may find a better one in a different system.
I have visited quite a few RES systems and found some to spawn minimal pirates large or small, and others spawn unending Conda's, Pythons, Clippers, and Dropships as well as the smaller bounties.
I was in one today that had 3 Conda SysAuth not counting the dozen smaller cops. Kept spawning the big ships, I made 5Mcr in about 1.5 hrs.
