Can you ferry around other players?

If a player boards my ship at station A, and I fly to station B and he gets off there. Will he still be at station B next time he logs off then back on or will he teleport back to station A?

They can board your ship but there's about a 20% chance they'll get stuck in the Braben Tunnel when you supercruise. Known bug, hopefully still being looked at.

When they say things like these I always imagine 2-3 people sitting behind a desk and staring intently at the screen.
After several hours they conclude together: "Yep, it's a bug" and go for lunch.

Hopefully not.

Arf specifically mentioned the bug on a livestream before xmas, saying they'd identified the cause.

It's not just a networking issue, put it that way. I have 3 PCs on my lan, each with port forwarding, and I can run ED on all three with no issues or disconnnects. But if I put three commanders in one ship and start jumping around, someone is going to get stuck.

What happens when your multicrew passenger disconnects mid-flight? When they log back in, do they return to your multicrew seat, or do they spawn back at the starting point?

When it happened to me, I waited until the piloting CMDR said they had docked, killed the game, logged back in … and was in the station where they had docked.

The physical multi crew thing is very cool.

Does make you a bit nervous of your flying / landing quality … all that “someone looking over your shoulder” … feels like you’re on a driving test … 😂
Only of you're a bad pilot.

She'll make it point five past light speed.

Okay, I'm about to have a go at breaking physical multicrew.

(Summary: it's buggy, very frustrating and not reliable enough to use.)

Three PCs on the lan, all running Elite. Each has port forwarding configured locally and in the router, using a different port for each.
Three commanders aboard the same ship (main, alt 1, alt 2). Full network logging enabled on all three PCs.

I have a bunch of courier missions to run, so there's going to be a lot of supercruise.

If and when it breaks I'll look for the issue report (unless anyone has the link) and I'll upload a zip with all three logs.

Progress:

High wake 1 okay
Low wake 1 okay (surface port)
Docked.
- On disembarking, owner and alt 2 were standing in the hangar, alt 1 was teleported straight into the concourse. Alt 1 now says no ship docked.
- Still instanced. Alt 1 can see the ship with the other two through the windows.
- Alt 1 has no NPCs behind the counters, can't get an Apex. Relogging.
- (Alt 2 and Main were sitting on the ship on relog, hovering above the port. Instanced all 3.)
High wake 2 okay
Low wake 2 okay (outpost)
Docked.
- Same issue as the last port. Main and Alt 2 disembarked in the hangar, Alt 1 was teleported to the console with their back to the lifts.
- Relogged Alt 1 again.
- Alt 2 and Main were in the concourse. On relog, Alt 1 did not instance with them.
- Relogged with Alt 2 and Main aboard the ship. Alt 1 reappeared in the concourse, different instance again.
- Relogged with ship nearby, hovering. Still did not instance.
- Attempted to enter supercruise with Main and Alt 2. Both accounts stuck in braben tunnel.
- Alt 2 got a Silver Fer-De-Lance disconnect error.
- Had to kill the game for Main (ctrl+alt+del)
- Now I have Alt 1 and Alt 2 on foot at the same station in different instances.
Restarted game for Main, typed 'Test' into local chat to see which alt I'm instanced with. Alt 2.
Relogged Alt 1 three times, will not instance. Exit to desktop, reran the game.
Still cannot instance Alt 1 with Main + Alt 2. Sending main + alt 2 to supercruise and back.
Successful SC with main + alt 2.
Successful low wake at same outpost.
All three commanders are now in the same instance. (Going to supercruise and back is the best way to instance with a cmdr stuck in a station on foot)
Jumping to next system for leg 2 of the journey.
High wake 3 okay.
Dest is a surface port. Planet is a mottled beige and mint chip. Striking but irrelevant.

Successful exit from glide & docking.
This time I'm going to disembark with alt 1 first, then alt 2, leaving main aboard until last.
Alt 1 did not teleport this time. But Alt 2 did. (BUG? second crew member to disembark in the hangar goes straight to concourse.)
Now it's Alt 2 who can see Alt 1, but cannot access main player's ship at the elevators. "No accessible ships docked"

Alt 1 and Main departed in the ship. I put Alt 2 in a taxi. (Going to supercruise and back from a ground port is time consuming and grim)
High wake 4 ok.
Low wake at large orbiter. Apex beat me easily.
All instanced. Cannot test disembarking both alts here as one is in the Apex.

Onto leg 3.
High wake 5 ok
Low wake fine (arrival at small outpost)
This time I will disembark Alt 2, move them to the concourse, then disembark Alt 1.
Nope, the second Alt 2 disembarked they were fade-to-black moved to the concourse.
This makes it impossible to re-board Main player's ship. Not accessible from the lifts.
(What this game desperately needs: when you're in a team, there should be a 'move me to X's instance' option. Just pick a teammate.)

Main and Alt 1: High wake 6 ok
Alt 2 gets the Apex this time.
Low wake fine. Large orbiter.
Got them all in the same instance again. Turned in missions, boarded all three on the ship.

High wake 7, all three on board: worked fine.

Quick 50 ly detour to visit Hero Ferrari. Should be interesting as Main has unlocked this engineer but the two alts haven't.
(FDev thought of this. Both Alts have 'Cannot Disembark - Restricted by Port')

4 high wakes to get there and back, all okay.
Arrived at Orbiter, disembarked and now Alt 1 has been teleported into the concourse.

Still going ...

To get the third commander back into the instance again I've flown away from the station with Main and Alt 2.
Supercruised away from the station, did a 180, exited from supercruise at the station.
This is a pretty reliable way to instance with a commander already at the station. Relogging will not work.
Being a small station, every time I do this some blasted NPC has pinched the medium landing pad.

Jumped to the next system, docked at the small orbiter.
Alt 1 was first to disembark. Immediately teleported to the concourse.
Sent Alt 1 off in their Apex, followed in the ship with Alt 2.

Wondering whether the teleport issue is because I'm using a Crusader with the newly added fourth seat. (nope) Will swap to a 3-seater shortly.

Finally back at the starting station. Apart from that one silver FDL error high- and low- waking have been bulletproof.

Now moving all the cmdrs to a Krait Mk II

Disembarking from the Krait did the 'teleport a cmdr to the concourse' again.
