Can you find something out there?

So, as a player that enjoy exploring, I was wondering if it's possible to step on something totally new.
So far, everything that was "found", it was because of some clue or hint.
Can a Cmdr surveying a new planet far away from the bubble find a Thargoid advanced base, a new element or something like that?

I think everything that's been found could've been found without clues. The last discovery's been sitting there since 1.0 if you believe Drew.

@ Karbon: I'd recommend reading this thread: "Anything actually out there - why explore?". It concerns mostly the same thing, and also lists what's out there but not yet found.
That said, the chances of random stumbling across something like that is incredibly low. Otherwise, the galaxy would be full of such stuff.

@ metatheurgist: I think it's reasonable to believe him, but bear in mind that the megaship version and the audio logs were only added in 2.3. Before that, it would have been a stock Anaconda wreckage and just some text logs.

I mean, since the launch, why would Thargoids ship shows up just now?
Clearly FDevs started work on this kind of things just now, right?
There is people getting interdicted 5 times in a roll all the time now, places being restricted for a short time then opened again with new content... this kinda let me to thing we can't find anything out there and that would be really disappointing considering the massive size of this game.

@marx Thanks, gonna check that out.
