Can you fit Railgun to Cobra...

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to fit a railgun to a Cobra. I picked up a railgun for my Sidewinder in Freeport but can't find a railgun for my Cobra anywhere, does anyone know where I can get one for a Cobra?

Thanks! :S

Yes, you could fit 4 if that floats your boat! Though I don't think there are any size 4 rail guns in game yet, so the nose ones have to be size 2.

Sniff out the Beagle. ;)

Thanks, found a rail gun in Beagle. I do have another question though, I've got three pulse lasers and one rail gun, I hit my target fine with the lasers but the rail gun hasn't hit the target once. How can the rail gun miss if all three lasers are hitting the target at less then 500 meters? It's almost like the rail gun is aligned off target.

In my sidewinder I rarely missed with the rail gun. Any ideas?

i assume you put the railgun to a C2 hardpoint?
those never really worked well with fixed weapons. one side might hit, the other not (small target) most of the time.

Yeah, put it in C2 and was thinking of getting another one for my other C2 HP but if I don't know how to aim with it seems a waste.

Also from what I remember, lasers, even fixed ones, have a small amount of "gimballing" could it be the lasers are correcting the beams but the railgun isn't?

It could be, the lasers are all fixed, are we supposed to report these things to the devs? I'll do some more testing, I'll remove the lasers from my fire group and see what happens with just the railgun on the Cobra.

even with fixed pulse lasers you have this problem.

the way i tested it on my Anaconda:

get some containers of cheap goods (fuel, algae...whatever)
SC a bit out to have a place for your own.
jettison the canisters, move away about 700m
now get your weapons out and try to get all reticules to snap on target.

the weapon aid works a bit better on ships (which are of course bigger), but you get an idea how far it will "track".

i don't think you'll get more than two weapons to lock on the canister.

There should be some little triangles near your crosshair, one of those will be your railgun. When I had four in my cobra, they made this shape:

..../\../\....
/\.........../\

...and would only all hit when all the little triangles were over the target.

That was it, I changed my fire groups to only rail gun and the triangle was offset to the bottom right, aimed with that hit target every time (Cobra), destroyed in 4 hits.
