Can you give us a key for toggling relative mouse on/off please

As the title says: There should be a toggle switch for relative mouse on off for those who play with mouse and keyboard. It is more than annyoing (and unhealthy) to have to move your mouse like crazy when in supercruise or FA ON. And the usage of vjoy and other 3rd party tools is currently a bearly acceptable solution, but it still doesn't feel right.

Sorry for bringing you the bad news but this request is made countless times and is simply ignored by Frontier.

This is my highest priority quality of life improvement.

... I have tried to use http://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=448 but had a problem fine tuning stuff.

P. S. Finger crossed. I really hope anytime this request is raised, Frontier actually listen.

Having this as an ingame switch would make the step on playing ED again after an almost one year long break by far smaller for me, as for I don't want to install 3rd party tools to just be able to play a game, when there are so many other games that wait to be played.

/raises hand

Me too. Just allowing the relative settings to be toggled based on FA Off would work but a binding is OK too.

I might even go thargoid hunting if this was added :D

Unfortunately, the game doesn't offer such luxuries. However, some players have successfully created and shared scripts that use external tools to achieve this.
Read the thread below, but post #21 is probably what you want. I managed to follow the steps required and can now use FA on/off at a button's press.

Edit: Now that I read my post again, it sounds silly, because FA on/off is controlled by just a button. What I wanted to say is that the script and the settings you modify on the controls allow with a single button Relative mouse on plus F/A off at the same time, and vice versa. It's a breeze to use, you just have to follow the instructions closely to make it work.

There are only workarounds, sadly.

If you don't want to use 3rd party software like a virtual joystick, the best one imo is the secondary-pitch-up-bind-on-spacebar trick.
It makes supercruising with relative mouse on easy. You can even fly around in normal space in FAon+relative mouse ON perfectly well outside combat (while doing basic tasks like landing, scooping etc), but if you want to be able to use FAon during combat with relative mouse ON, then you'll need to learn the pitch-and-roll-on-mouse way.

But luckily FAon combat is pretty pointless. Just use FAoff all the time while you are shooting at someone.

The Elite games were always friendly with the keyboard and mouse. Players flying with an expensive HOTAS on the PC often go with the mouse for better hits using fixed weapons. Don't tell anyone...

Separate HOTAS settings for FA on/off would be nice as well.
Did someone removed alternative settings and the toggle to switch them?

Asking because this is exactly what I have used with virtual joystick emulator to try to get a workaround for kbd&m

Due to wifey 'tidying' my HOTASS after an ED break of 18mnths, I am using mouse and kb. I'd be interested in peoples m&kb suggestions. I seem to struggle when docking and I will not get a docking computer. I could fly in backwards with my hotas with my eyes closed. But m&kb I struggle not to rattle the toast rack. Currently its set as pretty much the default settings. I have vowed that tonight will be the night I actually look at my settings proper to try to adapt to my new m&kb scenario. M&kb seem to be easy enough in supercruise and jumping from system to system, but landing on planets and docking where you use thrusters is where I struggle. I used to use a top hat with my thumb on the hotass for that and I miss it.
So what are the QoL settings people use for m&kb? Please enlighten this fellow mourning the loss of their hotas.

Honestly, I'd recommend spending a few hours in training mode just tweaking. The settings are great for customising mk (excluding what the op is asking for, because I'd love that option).

I've got an MMO mouse with 12 side buttons and about 5 additional buttons on top so I map a ton of stuff there so my suggestions won't be suitable for you but...

W and S thrust up or down felt the most natural to me (vertical thrust, not main thrust). A and D yaw. I put left and right thrust on my mouse side.

Mouse axis for pitch and roll with relative mouse on the roll (it's hard to control otherwise). It's the dead zones where you really need to tweak. The dead zone will give you better fine control.

Some might prefer yaw on mouse (relative) and roll on A and D but I like the option to roll fast or slow but yaw is usually restricted anyway, so binary input works fine.

I also set main thrusters to shifting up or down in 25% increments, with hotkey settings for 0, 50, 100 etc.

Just spend a few hours on it in training. I did this in beta in 2014 and rarely needed to tweak after except with SRV etc.
