Can you rank up when pledged to a different power?

Hey there! I've been trying to find an definitive answer on this for awhile, but haven't turned anything up.

I'm pledged to Antal, but have decided I want a Drop ship to rig for mining.
I'm only one Federation rank shy from being able to buy one, so I went out to start doing Federation missions.
Now, I've been grinding for a week and no rank up missions have been offered to me at all.

It's not clear if this is because I just have to grind more are am doing something else wrong...

Any help?

If this is the case that could explain why I've been doing so much for the federation and have not even got recruit yet. I was pledged to Li Yong rui until a couple days ago when I defected to Hudson which would mean only my last 2 days of stuff would count. It could also just be bugged or increased to an unfathomable amount of missions.

I am pledged to Archon and i manage to rank up from squire to baron after 1.3 update and before "free for all" clippers/couriers. I didn't try it for feds but i guess it works (i have only petty officer for Sol permit).

Hi
Very true. I was pledged to the Federation Zachary Hudson as I got put there when I first played elite dangerous
I didn't want to become empire as the star wars thing, thought they were evil. but you need to look at what power
fits your persona and game style playing.
I still have a rank of Warrant Officer with the Federation, but have ranked up to Count with the empire.

Naval progession missions you need to do at each station and only take the missions for your power.

Also don't do mining its a waste of time. best find 2 stations where you can run cargo which is high supply
at one and high demand at the other. I did this with a sidewinder made it as fast as I could and ran cargo runs
to get a cobra in 1 week.

I've also not gone to level up to elite, I could do but this would put a bullseye on my ship. maybe im wrong on that one
ok have fun out there

I beg to differ. My current prospector Asp isn't rigged for large takes and I can pull just shy of a million credits in about 40 minutes.
That's only 64 tons of good stuff.
My plan is to scale that up and see what happens.

Son, I was in a Viper in a day and a Vulture in a week.
;)

I'm currently sitting on 4 deckedout ships and 62 million credits.
Turning coin is something I know how to do in this game rather well.
