Can you rescue slaves - I hate slavers

4 weeks in and I love this game however I like to play my real life moral compass, I don’t have a problem with anyone doing what they do in the black market, except Slavers, I hate it, so if I come across someone running slaves:

* Can you rescue slaves from a ship and free them? *
(via escape pods and get bonds or scoop them up as a rescue and take to a non slave selling station)

However if you pick them up now your then your running illegal cargo - Is this right?

if rescuing isn’t available, could this be suggested to devs - it could work like search and rescue Or bounty hunting and you get to bust up some slavers without killing the slaves! Give‘s you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Crude example: scan cargo, disable engines and break the cargo hatch or force them to dump their cargo idk?

People have been asking for this since Day One, sadly.

It’s truly mind boggling that a game where slavery is such a huge part of the lore has no mechanic to... free slaves.

Shame I hope that it does come as I don’t mind smuggling, but i draw the line at slaves.

Suggestion - increase the value of slave so the slavers gain from it (booo) as it’s more risky - give a fair bounty on slavers with a rescue reward for picking them up (all slave cargo canisters have a distress signal)

It would give a different angle to black market trading and bounty hunting - there’s a little bit of Han Solo in all of us

I've never traded slaves, except once. I hadn't found an Imperial rank-up mission for ages, and there it was: deliver a few slaves one jump. My CMDR has been wracked with self-loathing and guilt ever since. He'd love to be able to make amends by freeing some.

After reading some of the wiki/lore behind them, I don't think imperial slaves would actually let you save them.

tl;dr of Imperial Slaves: It's voluntary indentured servitude. They are given basic human rights (treating slaves like cattle is illegal in the Empire) and they choose to become slaves to avoid debt. Somehow being a slave in the Empire is LESS demeaning than being in debt to someone.

So basically, their pride is on the line in a culture where pride is everything. If you gave them guns and told them you were there to rescue them, it almost sounded like they'd be more likely to shoot you than their captors.

When unlocking Ettiene Dorne I rigged the pods to show as occupied with fake ship IDs in their Idents so it wouldn't come back on me. Ettiene will be in for a shock when he opens one and finds it's filled with around 2 cubic meters of particularly liquid bio waste ( I don't want to talk about how I got it in there, but it was worth it ). The occupants themselves were dropped off at a safe facility.

They should be thinking themselves lucky that atmospheric cargo bays are now standard. Oh for the days when scooping up slaves was a viable way of making fertiliser.

Also according to the lore, there are other types of slaves who don't have human rights and are treated even worse. There are supposedly Imperials who, as an act of "compassion", will buy the regular slaves and convert them to Imperial Slaves so that they are treated better and have better lives.
