Can you see how much system data you have collected?

I've you're out and about, aiming to get enough system exploration data for Elite status, can you tell how much you've collected, and what it's worth? It'd be annoying to head home and falling one or two systems-worth short!

You can estimate, however. Once you have some data.

I think I have just earned enough to get to Elite. But it is still pretty irrelevant since I am around 30 K LY away from the bubble, so will get much more before I get home. I estimate based on other trips with a similar exploration style. It can only be an estimate, of course, since different areas of the galaxy do have different densities of each object type. But I know what the average per system was on my last big trip exploring in a similar way, and can multiply that by the number of systems I have visited.

As the "Systems Visited" is the only live counter in the Exploration statistics, it's IMHO the only rough guide one can take.

Of course it depends on what is being scanned, but the ELITE Rank typically seems to set in after some ~7000-8000 Systems visited.
It'll be less when every single Object is scanned per System of course, and quite a bit less when i.e. Neutron/Black Hole farming is performed.

At least with Neutron/Black Hole farming, some made a pre-calculation based on existing known Credits/Scan values and set a goal on how many of them they'd need to farm. That seems to work in that specific case.

To track the actual progress, there's some 3rd party Tools that do that tracking (at least in terms of estimated Credits Value). With "Verbose_logging" enabled in the proper xml config file, such a Tool is likely the only way to get a somewhat accurate estimate.
Drawback : those tools won't work in retrorespect - meaning you'd have to run them at the start of your tour. They can't assess what you already hold in your Map Data Storage from before the tool was installed.

This^

I try and remember to take note of systems visited number before leaving on a trip.
It does seem that around 8000 might get you to Elite, but it does depend on what you do detailed surface scans on, as these generate most of the credits.
I've gotten to over 4000 systems and 80 million credits which has got me Pioneer rank and 29% towards Elite, so roughly half way overall.

Right now, I'm seeing 55 systems visited = 1% Pioneer rank. There is going to be some variable in that depending on what you find and scan. If your just scanning the primary star then more. If your performing say 197 detail planetary scans per 71 systems - less.

General consensus in the Exploration forum (which this thread will be moved to, presumably) is that from Pioneer to Elite is 1M credits = 1%. If that is 55 systems for you, you are only getting an average of around 18K per system (and you need 5500 systems). When you include the first finders bonus, I am averaging over 45K per system. To get a reasonable estimate, you need data based on your exploration pattern, and preferably in similar areas of the galaxy.
