Can you stop an AI Pirate by dropping cargo?

I have dropped cargo and had the pirate stop shooting and say "I'm rich!". But all I had was 4 magnetic emission coils worth 30 credits each. I didn't realize I was carrying them until I got attacked. I went on with my day and low waked out of there. I didn't see him again so he must've been happy with his riches, lol.

That's a lot of Big Macs...till he goes pirating, succeeds, then gets more greedy...like humans do, sadly.

I got interdicted by an expert anaconda. Dropping all cargo did make him stop shooting with the message "you made the right choice". So it seems possible. I think hauling rares is what attracted such a high level enemy to my poor cobra.

The game has no AI, its just a bunch of simple scripts. NPCs don't think and don't react like a human does. Also they spawn randomly.

Something I want to see is rumours about bounty hunters searching for you and their location so we can have some persistance and common sense.

What do you think game AI is? In the words of Molyneux, "if we had passed the turing test we wouldn't be making a video game with it."

What I mean is that they are a very basic script, not a complex one where it takes multiple factors into account.

They spawn randomly from nowhere and they are VERY stubborn. If they want to interdict you they will try to interdict you for ever, the same while they chase you in a conflict zone, they chase you for kilometers and kilometers.

They need to have a proper AI, they need to "think".

I don't think that's necessary. Likelihood is in a galaxy of this size you'll only see a given ship once, so why do they need complex behaviours beyond their immediate task? If they're a trader they should trade, if they're a bounty hunter they should hunt you. As long as they do that one thing smartly it's not bad.

What you might be complaining is how obvious it is when an NPC is sent after you due to taking a mission or hauling certain goods.

I hate the boost. Real players are bad enough. Now you have to deal with psycho AIs. I spent 4hrs trying to find a spot to mine because everywhere I went there was Adam AI pirate attacking me. I go to the other side of a ring from an extraction site marker by myself in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden 3 AIs show up out of nowhere. I'm like, YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!! It's bullcrap.

AI pirate interdicted me twice in row. That was new to me. Then he appeared near the station just as I started my approach, and he started shooting at me within the no fire zone. Station took care of him real good.

All-in-all it was a good approximation of a tenacious pirate willing to go to any length to get his booty.

Twice now, I have collected something from a market for a mission, and somebody has been waiting for me before I have even left the station.
