Can you transfer a ship that is holding cargo?

For example if you filled your cargo bay, then used apex interstellar to fly to another station without your ship, would it let you transfer your ship to that station with your cargo still in the ship?

Cargo gets discarded. If you want to keep it, you need to go fetch the ship in its current location.
Yeah, I get it, but it makes no real sense. It should give you an option to transfer ship and cargo at an additional surcharge. It would make sense

It certainly doesn't sound unreasonable but I think the problem is that it would allow you to subvert some gameplay mechanics.

As with all recent suggestion threads, you can always look through the last few times it was discussed if you want to see how the thread will go ;)

Yeah I'd rather not lol.

Does it? I thought they just wouldn't let you move the ship at all. I distinctly remember being annoyed that I couldn't at least dump the cargo remotely and then move the ship.
Pretty sure I remember getting a prompt claiming cargo would get discarded if I moved the ship (think I went out in an Apex or something and had an AX ship loaded with limpets that I wanted moved closer to a Thargoid zone near a Titan). Would have to double check though, it's been... maybe a year, if not longer, since I encountered that situation.

I ended up in this situation yesterday by sheer coincidence. It gives you the option to discard the cargo. In this case it was just some limpets.

Ah yes, risk free cargo transfer to CG stations. Just fly to source station, buy 40 T9's and fill them with CG cargo, fly your murder hobo ship to CG station so no-one dares attack you, transfer all T9's with cargo directly there with no risk of losing cargo, swap between ships to deliver goods for CG, 28,000 tons of goods delivered with zero risk to player. Players already complain about other players delivering goods to CG's in solo because they are "hiding," I can imagine what they would day about this!

It can make sense if you consider that the transfer is not a teleportation, but rather someone else piloting your ship to destination.
We all know how incompetent the Apex pilots are: I don't expect the transfer pilots to be any different.
They would be pirated/destroyed along the way (no matter how short the trip is!). 🤭

Actually, when you get your ship transferred, you should check for chips on the bodywork that were not there before!
