Newcomer / Intro Can you use a joystick with this game?

So I was browsing through the control options and didn't see the option for joystick and I was just wondering if this game can be played with a joystick? Seems like it would be much easier.

When you plug your HOTAS in it will recognise it. The game is made for joysticks

Cost v performance go for an X52. The difference from keyboard is huge, you will not regret buying one

or if on a budget go for the "Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X" great alternative and a whole lot cheaper id also suggest "voice attack" as this is a great addition as well

I use extreme 3d pro ... But you can use any stick.... As others say game will see it when you've installed drivers and plug it in... Well worth the money and great fun.....

You can and should, it is great with a joystick. HOTAS is even better if you have it. Even the menus are designed to work with a joystick.

yes the thrustmaster t flight hotas is good for the price and you really have to get voice attack its soooo awesome no more keyboard presses.

I would recommend a setup with at the very least two hat switches and the T-Flight manages to only have one. It also appears to have only three buttons on the joystick head, which are very few. The upside is that you get a throttle control at an extremely competitive price! I also recommend a look at the joystick thread to hear what others have to say.

Elite has very good compatibility with various hardware. Personnaly, I use it with a T Flight HOTAS X, a set of Saitek rudder pedals, a Nostromo n52 speedpad, TrackIR and Oculus Rift DK2 (well not both at the same time, obviously).

I just got my Logitech extreme 3D Pro, and its taking a little bit of getting used to. Some things are easier with the mouse and keyboard though IMO. The game is good with either though.

I am in a dual joystick set up.

Main controls are done with a thrust master ch16,000. Throttle, cruise, pips and boost with a speedlink phantom.

Total cost £50.

Am I right to guess that you use the throttle control on the second stick as your throttle? Do you use the stick for the auxilliary thrusters? Or just unbind the X/Y axis and use it for the buttons and hat?
