Cannister of Survey Data?

I was mid way between two stars 200,000 ls apart, in a system 2500LY from Sol (basically the middle of nowhere), and I find a salvagable wreck! Of course, the survey data is marked as stolen, but I'm wondering if there is any point in taking it with me on my trip to the core? How much is it likely to be worth on the black market, and what fine would I expect to get if I'm caught with it?

Bin it, or keep it?

I thought those weren't going in until 1.4 dropped.

Now I have to wonder what the new stuff to find in 1.4 is.

No idea what it's worth.

I found one about 1,500LY out on the way back from the nearest spiral arm. Small survey data cache, I got 2,500cr for it. I wasn't awarded any scanning data from the cache. The large data caches are worth 100—150k cr.

Just found one 5,500LY from Sol, in the Omega Nebula. I almost had a heart attack when i suddenly saw a salvagable wreck pop up o_o

Yeah it's interesting seeing these things pop up now.

I found a system in Vela Dark Region with 4 appear the other day while I was scanning planets there.

There's a thread here, where we're gathering data on systems in which signal sources appear. Feel free to post your findings there too!

I've just found a large one in the system Byeia Eurk oy-c c15-1 which is 6240ly from Sol. It says it's stolen so I'm wondering whether it's worth the risk of keeping it onboard? I'm on my way back so would appreciate any advice :)

Cheers

Nice 5 month necro - nowhere near the record but still, nice one :D To answer your question, it really depends whether or not the cache is a big or a small one. Small ones aren't worth much and I'd ignore them. If you're on the way back a big one will add around 150,000cr to your profits (someone correct me if I'm wrong, been a while since I picked one of these up). Not amazing but better than a small one for sure. The fact they're stolen just means you want to dock somewhere with a black market - even if you get scanned you'll pay off a small fine and off you go, so it's nothing to worry about. Salvageable wrecks are common finds within 10kly from the bubble, so it's really nothing to get too excited about. Last time I was that close I stopped even slowing down for them tbh..

Thanks a lot :). It's a large one so fingers crossed it'll give a nice reward. I was a bit worried about it making me a target. I'm in a anaconda will need to dock at a main port when I get back later. I'll have a search on Google for black market stations cheers.

Fly safe,

You don't need to look on google, if you target a station in the system map it'll tell you which services it provides, including the black market.

I just sold 3 large data for 135k each, although galactic average price is listed at 157K.small cache @4500.
