cannot access open world!!

Trying to get in with my friends and every time I try and enter open world it puts me in solo. This is happening to one other party member also.

Is there an issue? Also why is private party locked?

Well we got there in the end. was playing for about an hour and when i pressed start said i was in an open game so we found each other, just couldnt understand why it wasnt working at the start.

Until a new commander has made that first jump, they exist in Solo.
