Cannot Comply

This game could be so good, but sometimes it is so bad.
Even though its a game made in 2021 by software developers, the ship feedback is mind-numbingly dumb.
We have audio that says: "Cannot comply" but not why.
We still have error messages like
"FRAME SHIFT CANCELLED: Hardpoints/gear/scoop deployed"
Instead of:
"FRAME SHIFT CANCELLED: Scoop deployed"
or
"FRAME SHIFT CANCELLED: Hardpoints deployed".
But audio should tell us why it cannot comply otherwise we end up in "I can't do that Dave" scenario. You cannot reason with hardcoded logic. Yelling at the computer does not fix it.
If the audio said "Cannot comply: Hardpoints deployed" it would be reasonable. Specificity for the win.
Its 3037 and user interface experiences are still the suck - we do not want this future.

Its the year 2021, you are in a hurry and your car doesn't start. Got lots of gas, its summer time, the battery should be fine. What the heck? Turn the key.... nothing! No indications, no beeps, nothing.... Grrrrr!

Oh. The car isn't in Park.

It's just one look at the lower right part of the HUD to check which of the indicators is active: mass lock, landing gear or cargo scoop. If none, then you know it's hardpoints.

And you know, it could be any number of those, even all four reasons, so you want onboard computer to list you all reasons every time, even if it literally takes a split second to check it yourself?
Just learn to use what you have.

Err, why are we making humans do the things we humans should be making computers do? The computer has all the information. The human that designed the computer knows the computer has all the information, why is not all the information used for the human in the best possible way? It's ridiculous.

You have audio input, visual input and they are not relaying all the information you have at hand via those channels, requiring the human to do extra work which takes time which could result in your death sorting this out is dumb. I died because I couldn't jump out because I got stuff in my sensory inputs telling me I needed to use my sensory inputs to work out how I can jump out is a loop we don't need if you need to GTFO.

You're already overlaying/hiding visual information with a not very informative message at least make it accurate and specific. Come on...

Doesn't it literally show why it can't comply in the top right UI screen?

Yeah it does - top right m8.

No, it just gives the generic message that can mean hard points, scoop, or gear. It'd be nice if it said which one. We need the hardpoint indicator, to go with the gear and scoop at the bottom right. It really should already be there. But you can work through, if the gear and scoop indicators are dark, that means it's weapons up. It requires more thinking, and right after an exhausting combat session, problem solving a puzzle may be difficult. Sometimes, you just want to jump, let supercruise assist drop you at a station, and auto-dock land you. Not everything has to be tedious.

Well then surely the solution is just "If those indicator lights aren't lit, press the hardpoint deploy button" rather than asking them to change the ship UI?

So what's your suggestion (presumably to correct these apparent audio errors)?

Basically yes, to include the specific accurate information via the channels they're using. And/Or even better a keybind that has everything built in to "do everything I need to do to jump, because I really want to jump" i.e. automate it. The tradeoff is accidental jumping if you hit the wrong key. But if you're in a situation where jumping away is the only thing that will keep you alive you want to optimise for survival.

Its supposedly 3037. If we're going to bring the design mistakes of the past into the future, I don't want to be in this particular future.

You're taking away current visual/audial information by overlaying it with an only vaguely helpful message and audio.

Yes, the workaround is to look at the bottom right corner and work out which one it is. If you think this is the correct solution, I'll file you under people who support designs that aren't clearly thought out.

The whole point of good design is that you don't end up here in the first place and you can continually keep your eyes on the road space.

The HUD already does indicate if your hardpoints are deployed, it doesn't need a separate indicator for those that can't see the first one. This sounds like the recent request to add a 3rd or 4th mention of star type before a jump and makes about as much sense.
