what is going on. I have been playing for years and now when I try to play Horizons I get this crap "Error 403 from website: "Your client is too old. Please update to the latest version of Elite Dangerous". So how the hell do I do that! Do I have to pay for the latest version? Am really really jacked off!

Update 13 is being deployed by frontier. You need to update your client (free of charge) as per usual.
If you have been playing for years, you have been through multiple updates, you should know the drill.
First of all: FD direct, Steam or Epic? If FD direct, you'll need to close, then restart the Launcher, then the "play" button will say "upgrade". Do it.
Steam you'll need to close the game, then wait for the update through Steam.
Epic - no idea.

Trying everything I can think of but the game won't start for me now. The update has got stuck somewhere.
Not sure - the update appears to have got stuck somewhere in the process. I was showing as updated which was impossible to download 6GB in the time I had turned my computer on.
I fixed the problem by verifying the game files through the Steam client and at the end it started downloading the update - problem solved
