Newcomer / Intro Cannot find ship I want to buy

Not all ships are available at all stations. What you are seeing is all the ones that are available, whether you can afford them or not. If the ones you can afford (Viper, Eagle, Hauler, Adder, almost Cobra) are not shown you need to fly somewhere else. Plenty of threads and stuff around that show you what is where.

AS Jabokai says you need to go elsewhere. Look for High Technology systems which usually have a good list of ships for sale.
Why didn't you just fly straight back to one of the places you'd seen it? would have saved yourself a lot of time.
Don't forget the prices are for the basic ship, you need to multiply by 2 or 3 if you want some equipment. ( The Eagle is around 40K, mine cost me 120K because you can't do anything serious with the 40K standard version )
A medium equipped Cobra is closer to 1M than the standard 400K.
Also remember if you want to do some trading to keep your insurance cost plus enough money to buy interesting goods - usually between 2500 and 9500K per ton. You won't make much profit trading scrap !

Also, make sure you hit your Q and E buttons (roll for me) to actually go through the list of ships available at that station. The Shipyard only displays one ship at a time.
