cannot find system when i type system name into galaxy map?

i am planning on using the colonia highway but when i type the system names into galaxy map nothing happens at all.

have tried repeatedly and also various other names of systems on the colonia highway also, but the same thing happens (nothing happens).

any help would be most welcome :)

While i'm not certain, i reckon that either one of two things has happened here, either you misspelt your target system's name or it's because your intended system is too far away for it to be planned.

Though i'd say it's the former, as while there is a limit on how far the route planner can send you (which was recently increased to 20,000 light years in the main PC version 2.4 patch and our corresponding patch), surely the galaxy map should still be able to locate a system for you, even if it can't plan a route to it... :) .

On long range travel and the planning and or routing to it, i've never done it in this game, only going 400 to 500 light years around my starting area yet, however i have seen circa 22,000 light year delivery missions on the board with target locations in and around Colonia and other sectors in recent days, in particular while docked at the station for the Community Goal mission in Wyrd last week.
(I'm still in the Wyrd area.)

I'm ALMOST curious enough to accept the mission to see what the route planner does, however i don't want to take the rep lose i'd incur when i inevitably abort the mission, because i know i couldn't stand a trip that long in this game - even if the mission does give you week to complete it, you'd still have to jump thousands of light years per night, when again i can only just about stand a 400 light year trip, which i still found a slog... :) .

thanks for the reply.

i made sure to spell the system correctly and also is well within the 20,000 ly range, but it just won't go to the system at all on galaxy map.

i've played on xb1 since march 2016 and have done the colonia route multiple times and had no issues with the galaxy map finding the systems.

it is strange as i can type other systems onto galaxy map and it finds them with no issues.

It's very strange then, it's POSSIBLY a server issue - has this been happening over a number of days (when trying to search for you target system) and have to tried logging out and back in or do you just have the game running in the background?

About the only other thing i can think is, you have the right system name entered, but the game won't plot a route to it because it needs a permit to enter, which you don't currently have...

Try entering the system name into one of the following sites, to see what it tells you:-

have only tried plotting to the first planetary base from the bubble (on the colonia highway route) a couple of times so far. first time was yesterday and then again today. all the places i have plotted don't need a permit and should easily be found by the galaxy map,so it does sound like a server issue maybe.

it is strange as other systems i have tried including beagle point are found no problem whatsoever.

I made an edit to my previous post, including links to third party databases, which you may not have spotted yet... :) .

Also, another thought, i have heard of certain systems being locked by the devs when they're adding things to them, i don't know whether sites such as the linked ones would mention such a thing...

That is an awkward thing to type, here or in game do you have or need spaces between the letters and the dashes (try with spaces and without), i wonder and could you accidentally have used underscores instead which typing dashes in the game (as in _ vs - ) .
(I didn't know the game had SUCH awkward system names... :) .)

Edit:- Maybe it's just the typeface on EDDb, but i they appear to (and you have), have the system displayed as having no spaces between the Ai and A, and none between the c14 and the following dash, but they do have a space between the second dash and the 10... again maybe that format has too few or too many spaces...

no i typed it exactly the same and nothing.

it does sound like some issue with the galaxy map on ps4 atm.

anyways no worries as i have yet to leave and am in no rush lol

Try typing in the name again but miss off the last digit. If may take you to the system. If that doesn’t work repeat the first step but miss the last two digits, the try again missing off the last three digits and so on. In this way you’ll soon learn where the typo or other proplem may lie.

thanks again for your help everyone.

i just typed blu thua ai-a c14-10 and the galaxy map found it this time :)

very strange lol

i did type it that way before and nothing was found so no idea what was going on tbh?

every route was found now on the galaxy map

this is what i am using for the route https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/298533-The-Colonia-Connection-Route-Map it is very helpful i have to say once the galaxy map finds the system you have typed lol.

That'll be an interesting thread to read, though i can't see myself following any of those routes, short of patches adding a lot of things to do in our ships, (like the talked about "Space Legs", functionality - i want to be able to set my ship to autopilot or have my co pilot take over while i mess around with a pool table and with various arcade machines in my very own "Intergalactic Space Arcade*" or similar... maybe if i've a big enough ship it'll have a swimming pool, tennis court, football pitch etc... :) .
