Hardware & Technical Cannot get PC to recognise graphics card

My old PC was suffering playing the game (which meant I was too) so I bought one of those second hand gaming type PC's from ebay (you Know, the six core AMD,8 giggys of ram and case with a blue glow!). All works ok but had a 650ti graphics card so I swapped it for my 7970 card out of the old PC and now it's far better *hooray*

But oddly when putting the 650ti into my old PC the PC will not recognise the graphics card at all. I know it works, the graphics card sign comes up just before the bios screen and I've changed cards loads of times but this has got me stumped and need some advice.

For added information it's running Windows 7 and the motherboard is a Asrock K10N78.

*Edit* There is no internet connection on the PC ATM can this be an issue? I'm sure I've changed cards without connection before and Windows has found the driver without it.

The graphic card are old today just use the lowest options in Graphic card settings in the game ;) and the 4k users should have a graphic card to handle above the 8 gig memmorys ;)

Windows should use standard VGA drivers if there are no drivers for the GFX installed.
Did you uninstall AMD drivers before pulling out the previous GPU?

- can you see the graphics card in the BIOS? (assuming it can do this, older/entry-level BIOSes did not)
- is there an option in the BIOS to switch between IGFX and PEG (internal graphics or PCI) (sorry not familiar with Asrock BIOS) it may have switched itself when the old card was removed?
- is the display adapter listed in Device Manager? If yes is there a yellow triangle against it?
