The only reason I wasn’t able to release an animal to the wild (other than age) was because I purchased the animal from the market for cash. Could this be the case with your nile monitor?

If not, it sounds like a glitch

Verify that it's not young, not diseased or injured (have a vet check it, don't just assume it's not) and not infertile (note, by infertile I mean like what happens when an animal gets old, not the genetic stat. Animals can become infertile before they actually become "old"). Those are the only reasons I can think of for not being able to release an animal that was actually born in my zoo.

Move it to quarantine, the vets will heal it, then move it back to the trade centre and you'll be able to sell it.

Vets didnt do anything.
oh well, been playing new zoos. that one may be gone by now.
