Cannot see filtered traders in galaxy map

AT first I figured this was due to not visiting their systems before.
Well, since 3.0 I've visited plenty of traders using https://inara.cz/galaxy-nearest/25/ to find them.
Yesterday I popped open galaxy map and was looking for a trader closer to where I was and realized NOTHING stands out using the filter even the systems I know for a fact have traders I've traded at.
I do use that HUD tool that makes my HUD blue instead of orange. Is that causing my problem maybe?
Anyone else having this issue?

I've read somewhere that you can only see them within the range of 40LY.
Haven't tried it myself, though. I haven't need them yet.

Yes, you must have previously docked at the station (post 3.0) and be within 40 ly.

OP, use inara.

Was using it before - guess I will continue. This is pretty annoying really.

Which, for the record, is idiotic. Most other station services can be checked from anywhere in the galaxy, but not brokers, because ”reasons”.

What a stupid mechanic: a trader that stays hidden until you accidentally stumble across them. They’re traders , not spies!

“Hey Dave, hows your new trader business going?”

Its the same with outfitting and Shipyards. The 3rd party tools are still better than the Galaxy Map. Its dumb.

It is a misguided attempt at added gameplay, IMO.

Just put the info in the game. So we can play the game.

I'm pretty sure they actually thought it all through and still decided it was a good design. That's the scary part.

It's not the first nor the last time FD decided to throw a branch under our feet. Sometimes it really can feel like they're trolling us deliberately.

Yeah, 40ly is dumb... I see no reason at all, just use inara I guess...
