Canopy breach

I was bounty hunting in my Python. I was fighting a funship in an asteroid belt, having a blast. The funship decides to park and unload on me and I do the same. My armor can take it. The problem is my canopy couldn’t.

I got the kill as the canopy broke and high tailed it to the nearest outpost. I made it with plenty of time to spare. 10km 9km 8km 7.5km submit docking request and DENIED. Oh no problem I have 5 minutes left in emergency reserv—-I CAN SEE THE LANDING PAD IS EMPTY! “Docking request denied” Docking request deniedDocking request deniedDOCKINGREQUESTDENIEDdOcKiNgReQuEsTdEnIed.

4:15 seconds later.

The sound of docking requests being denied had driven me insane. I diverted power from nonessential systems like life support to engines and weapons. If I am going to die, I’m taking the traffic controller with me. I gave the station a little love tap from my weapons just to make sure they were paying attention and then I engaged the afterburner and aimed for docking control. My life support was failing and I activated the self destruct.

“Docking request granted” Go to hell. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Lol!

Next time try a logout/log in, mode switch, whatever.... it'll probably shake lose the ATC if there are NPCs blocking pads.

I’ve only ever had one canopy breach but it was QUITE annoying so I installed an AFM and make sure not to get cockpitshot

Made a 27 jump trip with a shattered canopy, in a Beluga, with D-rated Life support. Only had to synth air a couple times.

Yep, one of the best kept secrets in the game, you can synth oxygen. Go figure (both how this is possible and why nobody knows it!). ;)

I find MRPs an effective way to harden external modules, including the Canopy. When the FAS was initially released, it had a paper thin canopy. What saved that ship were the Military Modules slots, and MRPs. The exact same issue came up with the aChief, once again MRPs to the rescue.

Or you can just synthesize air.

40 ton life support module, 5 minutes of air. Yeah OK?
Also since when holograms need to breathe? I don't think this life support is air.
Good thing this game isn't realistic. You'd be instakilled from 300000km when detected and moving in constant direction.

Humans are murder machines, if we had FSD in ships, we'd DEFINITELY had FSD torpedoes. High wake on me you motherfather? Here catch this... FSD torpedo! *distant boom*

I'd rather not have to be doing it every five minutes though, I'm lazy.

Same here, I always use A life support unless in a racing ship. Combat ships though, it is rare that you are more than 7m 30s from a port, so D is really all that is needed if you are bugging out, a single synth should cover any scenario.

Holograms? From a game perspective holograms are only used in telepresence and ship launched fighters. The timer is for the emergency supply, you'll notice it only engages if life support is turned off, or the ship depressurises.

Not even needed these days, I calculated over 20 hours worth of life support when I last checked my synthesis.

Not always easy to synthesize life support in combat. I've occasionally lost ships with D rated life support because the fight took longer than 7.5 minutes after canopy breach to resolve.

Life support synthesis does remove one of the great potential dangers of exploration though...with A rated life support and a full load of materials, even my slowest (hyperspace wise) ships can make it back to port if I lose the canopy, from pretty much anywhere in the galaxy.

Vulture is the only ship IMO that deserves an A rated canopy. Barring that yes, synthesis is the answer.
But to one reply above me, no, do not A rate ALL ships life support. You will seldom lose a canopy in most ships and in most cases can easily get to a station in the rare event you do. D rated for lower mass = more speed+jump range. 2 things you are far more likely to need/use/appreciate than stopping to head to a station 1 time out of 1000 hours in space.

No sound in space but yeah the lack of FSD missiles is odd. I get it would be game breaking but c’mon why hasn’t anybody done it? If they can give every idiot with a sidewinder an FSD...45k per missile isn’t exactly cost prohibitive when you are a billionaire lmao

Vultures deserve their tissue paper canopy. They are truly obnoxious, to quote that guy from captain America civil war “There is a little bit of green in the blue of your eyes. How nice to find a flaw”
