Canopy compromised

Thrusting back on the countdown means nothing can surprise you at the other end, even white dwarfs, neutron stars and black holes can be easily negotiated :)

i'm the careless type and I can confirm:
1. Canopy Compromised
2. Canopy Breached
3. Canopy Critical
4. POP
If I was 20k ly away I would head back straight away - But if your a careful pilot you could wait for another crack before you do.

I will also add that it also depends on how hard you hit something the "1,2,3 pop" is not the rule - I have lost my whole canopy in 1 hit before by hitting the corner of a space station. Also on my last long trip I managed to get into body exclusion zone of neutron star and went straight to canopy critical and barely made it back.

"It was a funny angle"

But how many out there have the badge for not only shutting down thrusters but, on the next jump, trying to repair the FSD...while in supercruise? Just askin'. Really...

Believe it or not I did exactly this but in reverse, attempted to repair the FSD, and then shut down the thrusters. You're not alone.

LOL you reminded me how I was cocky flying-scooping at full speed, getting pulled by star, managed to escape into supercruise, check my modules...
FSD at 98% OMG I have to repair that, repair FSD... pop outta supercruise :D:D
or
Lets do some neutron scanning, arrive at system, scan neutron, check the local map if anything interesting there...no, head straight away to next waypoint... pop, aah the godamn neutron star is in the way, escape into supercruise, check modules... hmm I should repair FSD... pop outta supercruise... NOO, NOT AGAIN :D:D:D

PS: So far 3 times pulled by a star when scooping, 2 times kissing neutron, one binary death trap...OMG cant use heatsink in supercruise-new info for me so ASP litte bit fried, trying to repair FSD in supercruise 2 times...
result: compromised canopy, hull at 90%, damaged but repaired vital internal modules with AMFU

So, am I just extra careful or lucky? I've been out for about 3 weeks and everything is still 100%.

I'm not trying to be facetious here, I'm genuinely curious if I've just been lucky up to this point.

Definitely some safe and alert flying. Nice job, CMDR! Hopefully, you won't have those days where things just go wrong. And if they do, consider logging off so the game gods can reset themselves. Made it 18k towards the core, and went Alzheimers doing the fuel scoop. Toasted my ship trying to escape. A little later in the afternoon, within the span of an hour, face planted two black holes (TV caught me on those), and twice face-planting into the rings of a gas giant (trying to set up that perfect camera shot).

That should have been my cue to park it for the day - 100% down to 89%. I turned back home, not wanting to lose my exploration data (I had already lost a five week journey by parking and logging off next to an ELW - logged in and it spawned me inside the planet).

Of course, I was 89% when I got back. What a day can do to you, though.

Safe travels!

Oh no, I did that same exact thing too.

I'd like to think I've made all the stupid mistakes I'm going to make, but I'm sure I'll discover many more.
