I claimed a system near my squad's home base, but silly me picked a tier 3 starport as the first. I decided to release the claim to another squad member, and docked at the station that issued the claim. Initially, it seemed like it would work. I got a green success message that the claim was released. I was able to get into the galaxy map to, theoretically, pick a new system to claim. The original system I had released the claim for was an X though, and I assumed the colonization ship would have to depart before I could claim another system.
I logged out for dinner, and when I came back I got an Inbox message about the construction project failing if I didn't complete it in 3 weeks. I checked the System Colonization contact, and it seemed to still think I had the claim. The transactions panel still shows the mission. However, the galaxy map shows I have no colony claims. My squad member cannot claim that system.
This morning, 12 hours later, the issues still persist. Oddly enough, the colony ship is now in the system where I originated the claim from, rather than the system I had claimed. If I go to the SC Contact and attempt to release the claim again, I get a red error that says it couldn't release the claim. So I cannot claim any other systems at all, and my squad mate cannot claim the system I abandoned. I'm worried that it will get released at some random, undisclosed time and get snatched up by somebody else. I logged in just as the servers came up with the Trailblazers patch specifically to secure this system for our squad, and now I'm regretting ever trying to abandon it at all.
