...But based off what little we know about Engineers, criminal activity may be a route to new mods.

Any tips for (specifically) PvE piracy & smuggling?

To make my intentions clear, I only play in Solo these days.

1. Find a nice fat T9 and interdict that sonuva.
2. Disable its CombatLog Drive so it can't escape. When the shields go down you can use a Hatch Breaker Limpet to bust up the sweet spot and get those goodies. Or shoot the hatch yourself to get those goodies the old fashioned way, with reckless abandon.
3. Now you can use Collector Limpets to pick up the shiny new valuables that are totally yours, you lazy--...or you can pick them up with your cargo scoop.
4. Here's when the fun police will probably come in. They'll try to ruin your fun. So you should run like hell.
5. Go to an outpost with a black market. Or, if you like a challenge for some reason, an Orbis or Coriolis.
6. ???
7. Profit.

Its not even that difficult to get into a station while wanted. Just line up with the slot and boost in.
