Can't bind some controls to Joystick

I'm using a Saitek ST290 pro. Its a lovely stick, smooth and responsive. So far I've got primary and secondary fire ok, also throttle, fire groups. But I can't bind Lateral or vertical thrust to the buttons or 'Head look' to the hat switch. Those settings ask for an "Axis", not a button. Any idea what im missing here guys? Thanks.

You should assign Thrust Up/Down/Left/Right, or the similar Look directions to the hat switch positions.

Yeah I tried assigning LOOK to the hat switch but it doesn't detect it. It detects Power Distribution. Actually, power distribution on the Hat is quite cool during a fight, but I can't look around.

I had problems with my Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick. I couldn´t bind some controls. I installed Logitechs software which allowed me to update it and mess with joysticks settings. Then i set in this software that i want to use this controller in ED or something like that and went in to the game and everything worked. Game accepted buttons i couldn´t map before.

Being able to change power distribution is way more vital than looking around IMO, so I'd stick with that.

yeah I'm keeping it as is. Its very quick and easy using my thumb. I use the mouse for normal flying and docking. I only grab the Joystick for combat.
