Horizons Can't board ship in planetary bases

I haven't done this in quite a while, but when Horizons launched, I am sure I was able to board my docked ship at a surface station by driving up to the gate beneath a landing pad in my SRV and selecting "board ship" from the menu, similar to boarding a ship landed anywhere on a planet and driving beneath it, within the glowing "docking region".

When I try to get back to my ship now, after driving around the base in my SRV, the menu point is red and tells me to get away several kilometres in order to recall my ship, as if I had dismissed it before.

Is this a bug or did the way of boarding your ship at planetary bases change?

Did you ask for permission first? Like how you dock in the first place? You may have missed that step?

I guess, you always had to "request boarding" in the same way you normally "request docking", and I just forgot about it. Or was this mechanic indeed added after the initial release of Horizons?

It was always there, but boy did it trip up lots of us in the heady first few days of horizons!

Hahah... I had this issue a few days ago. After a while trying, I exited the port in my SRV and drove until I could call my ship down away from the base.

I've been playing Horizons since day one, and completely forgot that I'd have to request to dock with my ship in-station. Thanks for the reminder!
