Can't buy the Shield Generator?

Hey everyone. I recently bought the Lakon Type 6 Transporter, and to finish a 100k profit mission, I had to sell my shield generator (I was very short on money). Now, I'm in Seller's Relay at CE Bootis, and i can't purchase any of the shield generators. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I believe that there is a bug such that shield generators cannot be bought for the Type 6 (unfortunately, as I'm enjoying my Type 6 and would like to protect her a bit better....).

I found I could only buy a class 4 shield generator, using a class 4 slot, in the Type 6. I could not replace the class 3 one.

I sold my shield generator off my Sidewinder by accident, then found I could not buy or get another one. So I sold everything, bought an Eagle, then sold it again straight away and bought a Sidewinder again. It came with the basic shield generator, so I then just re-purchased all my little extras. Now back to normal!

I sold the shield generator on a Cobra and couldn't replace it. (Red triangle shown on all shield generators at all stations I went to)

I haven't sold the shield generator on my Type 6 for this reason but every station I have stpped at shows a red triangle against shield generators so I cant upgrade

I just faced the same problem:
Playing "Open Play".

I tried to upgrade my shield generator of my Type 6 from Class E/3 to a Class C/3.
However even though I have enough money and power there was a red triangle on every shield generators without any reason.

I then tried the following: I sold the Class E/3 and tried to buy the upgrade - no chance.
Exit to menu and restart - no chance.
Exit game and restart - no chance.

Let's see, how long I will survive without shields :(
Well at last I will use the free space with additional cargo.

The solution is to use sell a class 4 cargo and replace with a class 4 shield generator.

No good tried selling class 4 cargo bay. The mass capacity of the shield generator is the problem as your ship mass is far more, thus unable to upgrade. Perhaps next staged release will provide opportunity to have more than one shield generator to make for the ship mass. Until then downgrade ship and buy it back again.

So far, the only reason I've seen for not being able to buy something is the excess mass. Excess power is not an issue (Well, it is, but it won't prevent you from buying anything), but excess mass is just not allowed.

The solution is to buy better Thrusters (With a higher maximum Mass)

Yup, it happens if you exceed the mass your initial shield generator could handle. I had the same thing happen, thought it was a bug but I had to go up a class.
Having said that, it should probably give a warning message when installing upgrades that surpass your initial generator's capabilities;
"Installing this module exceeds your current shield generator capabilities. This may reduce the efficiency of your shields". Or something...

It appears that the initial shield generator on the Type 6 is not actually fit for purpose.

It comes with a class 3 (110T) but you cannot fit the same if you remove it, in fact none of the class 3s are powerful enough to be fitted.
