Cant Change Gender

So, i have a Simple Queston, is it normal that i Cant change my gender in the Settings?

I Just cant Select the Option, i try it ingame and in the Main Menu

Sadly the game is sexist at that very significant level but I may be wrong. It's all down to interpretation. But the default is Male.

EDit - Yup looks like I was wrong. So happy when I make a blunder like that but also very silly.

are there any indicators in the game what gender your pilot is?

The OP has a fair question, but I wonder if this particular game actually matters? You can't really see your pilot. Is your pilot ever referred to as a male?

Heck, are there female pilot NPCs flying around?

you can press the Right stick to look arround and down you body.

The PC Version has the Same Option, and i think there its Changable, thats why i wonder its not Posible in the Xbox One Version.

well, just because you can check yourself out, doesn't mean your not a girl. Could be a very gender neutral outfit, or a non-barbie shaped pilot.

I'd advise filing a bug report on the sub-forum for that, and see if they can add that.

If the game had you going through story as a guy, everybody called you a guy, that'd be a bigger problem with the lack of gender setting. But if the only way you can tell your pilot isn't a girl is because of the look-around feature (that only you can do), that's not the worst problem to have.

I couldn't change it in-game, but it worked in the main menu for me. Be sure to hit "apply" at the bottom and don't go back by just pressing B.

Let's put this feature request on the bottom of the list.
So many more important game aspects should get priority over this.

You can change your character's gender through the main menu if the game has not loaded a scene.
Once the avatar model has been loaded you need to quit to the menu to change it again.

Thanks. I'll check it out. That's good news

Same for the PC?

It's a fundamental aspect that players come in 2 flavors and in the 21st century, you better support both, lest you get bad press for appearing short sighted for not being inclusive.

Are there more important game play problems to solve, sure. Gender settings isn't about game play, it's about showing you know women also play games and that you aren't designing like it's the 1980s anymore. It's a PR mistake to be avoided on day one.

And it sounds like there really isn't a problem, the setting was buried in a menu.

Yes, I've been interdicted by a few female NPC's - at least the names looked female :)

but what difference does it make if you are a woman you will play the game like one same as men do.

Given that gender only appears if you look at your pilot in the game, generally I'd say it makes no difference.

If the game wants to score points on the NoGenderBias check list, gender should be nonvisible/not referenced, or be player selectable with examples of both genders spread across NPCs.

It seems like the game does pass the NoGenderBias test. It wasn't particularly hard for ED to pass, just that initially apparently the UI wasn't obvious to the user.

Contrast that to one of the recent Assassin's Creed games where they basically saved money and didn't commission any art or voices for females after they realized all the NPCs were male.
