Can't chose between a Type 7 now or just sticking with my type 6

I have enough credits now to purchase a type 7 as well as fit it fairly decently by selling my Type 6. The problem is I just don't know if it's worth it for me at the moment.

With my type 6 I'm using a 3 system rare trade route that nets me about 1 million every 30 minutes, up to 2 million an hour if the supply is good to me.

With that said I'm just not sure there is much reason to get the Type 7 with all it's extra cargo. As it stands to make that 2 million an hour I'm using at most 50-60 tons at any one time. Do you guys think I could find a regular trade route that would offer more then 2 million an hour if I used the full 200+ cargo hold of the type 7?

Another thing I just thought of as well, honestly this little 3 stop rare route could probably be done in a Cobra. So I guess even if the type 7 ends up sucking it'd be easy and cheap to get a Cobra capable of my current route.

Suggestions or ideas anyone?

Thanks for reading!!

*edit*
I just completed another circle and my original estimate of 2 million an hour was a tad generous. I'd say it's more like 1.5 million an hour!

hmm if that's the case I might go ahead and buy the Type 7. Any suggestions on how much extra credits to stockpile before I do for upgrading? As it stands I'd only have about 3 million to fit it with.

I've got no personal experience of T7's per se, just of large cargo spaces (Clipper et al), which is pretty much the only thing aside decent FSD you'll need to start trading with it. Stockpile enough so that you can fill the cargo AND get the ship back if accidents (or lucky pirates) happen.

Figure out what you'll be transporting. Multiply that number by cargo space. That =A. Mods you want from get go added up = B. Estimated insurance cost = C. Cost of ship = D. A + B + C + D = (The answer you are looking for)

That's minimum. You might want to double the cargo cost so if you do lose your ship and all the cargo within you can pay the insurance to get another ship and have money to fill up on cargo again.

*Edit* Oh yeah, and that formula should serve you well for any new ship, just minus cargo for non trading vessels.

I make about 2.7 mil/hour on my trade route, if I focus and "play hard". I make 3,500 Cr/ton on a round trip.

About 2 mil/hour if I play normally (watch movies etc. while playing).

Well my type 7 netted me 500 k for every 12 min or something. did not time it, was about to but then my x55 trolled me and retracted my landing gear and boosted me into the wall.
not the first time that has happened...

You rly need to upgrade that FSD drive on the type 7. A grade is about 5 or 6 mill if my memory is correct.
Btw its runs hot fast so heat sink are a must.
Other than that. it's not as nibble as the type 6 and the cockpit is rather low so skim the letter box on the way out.

if you are mad like me and run without shields, its not as rugged as the type 6.
The type 6 dose not mind being boosted into the wall. it will survive it with anything from 5 % hull up to 73 %, ramming cobras with shield will put you down to 1%
I have become rather familiar with those inner walls due to my x 55 will boost when it wants.
The type 7 will survive a the letter box if you boost into the "roof" bounce you back down.
I lost my type 7 about 6 hours ago, so back in sidewinder :)
But i kept the good old type 6 so no worries for me :p
I rather like it.:p but still i was 100 meters from the landing pad when the x55 said nope
Karma i guess...

To be honest, I would stick with the type 6 and buy an asp as well. I sold my type 6 and asp and bought a type 7 and hated it. After a couple of days I sold it and bought back my asp. The type 7 was fat and slow. I kept banging it in the airlock when coming into the station.

Now I am back in my asp and it is grade A across the board, I am much happier.

out of curiosity.
Are you doing refinery - industry runs or some other shenanigans ?
the best i have managed with mine is slave smuggling one way and tobacco the other way.
that netted me about 2700 cr

Easily. I am netting 3.5 Million per hour from my new 1-jump, 15 LY route on a 240 ton Clipper. Type-7 will earn a bit less but still way more than what a Type-6 is capable of.

That is a Type-7 ideally set for trading in Solo. It shows you the amount of money you need (ship+upgrades+insurance). I will add whatever it cost you to fill your cargo hold with the most expensive stuff you trade.

Rebind your boost to something less accessible?

Oh, and rep for the name + boost death :)

Would not be Elite Dangerous if i did not bang my head once or twice every day.:D
its not just one button that is affected.
more like 5.
super cruse, silent running, landing gear, cargo hatch, boost

My problem is that the x55 needs a usb 3 port to power it, and i only got a usb 2.
I wish they informed people about this before i bought it.
I have now ordered a powered usb hub for it.
loosing 24 mill ship and cargo is only fun once ;)

Some markets are unstable. I am doing 2900cr/t round trip, at 5 trip per hour. This was not possible yesterday with the same stations, and while it seems stable TODAY, it might be gone tomorrow and I will back to my usual 2450cr/t 5.5 trip per hour route. It's here now though and I am gonna make use of it as long as possible.

I was aiming for a type 7 via the ASP but to get the load out for good return I kept my type 6 and upgraded everything. So keep your type 6 and pay for the type 7 straight out and run the type 6 till you have fitted out the type 7. you will have it fitted out in 3 days.
