So, I just bought ED today. Just finished downloading and the servers went off for the upgrade. Came back later and got 1.2. Went through the shooting tutes, then tried the takeoff one. Moved my ship up from the hangar, then did the checklist. Pressed every button as requested, but the checklist won't clear and I'm now just stuck there, the only buttons working are the ones on the list, and they just provide feedback on what I've just done! Help!

If you are also using a mouse try moving that for the last few bits of tge list.
Pre-flight checklist is designed to introduce you to the controls. If you can't complete it you're not ready to fly.
Take a good amount of time understanding and mapping/re-mapping your controls until you know what each entry means on the pre-flight checklist and where you have mapped it to your control scheme.

So, to complete the checklist, in what way does knowing that I can tap the W key briefly, but have to press and hold the S key for a second or so make me a more qualified pilot?
The checklist is designed to check that you have the basic binds assigned to do basic flight.
you would be surprised how many threads are generated here because of errors at this basic stage.

And once you're happy with your set up, disable it. It gets very tedious otherwise....
As mentioned here, by Jeffers, you can disable the checklist by going to RH Panel (default 4 key)-.... functions tab ..... disable checklist
