Horizons Can't complete salvage mission without Horizons?

I just bought the Elite yesterday, and I've been having a lot of fun so far.

On my way to complete a commercial samples salvage op, I was told to turn in at a different area and earn a bonus for doing so. The new area is "Kingsbury Base", which is on a planet. Upon further reading, it seems I need the Horizons DLC to actually land on a planet. Do I actually need to buy DLC to complete a mission I was given or is there something I'm missing?

Thank you,

Mission updates can be a bit buggy and direct you to horizons locations. You can report it as a bug, but I'm sure it's already been reported. Safest thing to do is to ignore mission updates or check the new destination before accepting.

I had the exact same issue back when I started. The bonus for a trade mission directed me to Ogden Depot in the Potriti system. The depot turned out to be a planetary outpost. Since I didn't have Horizons, I ended up abandoning the mission. Now, I use a super handy website - Elite: Dangerous Database (just Google 'eddb'). You can use it to check for all sorts of stuff like station type, distance, and market stock. You can even use it to find the nearest station with a ship or module that you'd like to buy.
