So I finally took the plunge and pruchased the Odyssey expansion. I'm actually surprised how well-made the on-foot stuff is.
Anyway, I noticed that inside stations there are people giving missions. So to test it I took a delivery mission: Just deliver a package to some npc in some settlement. Easy enough.
So I arrive at the settlement and... well, the mission info box on the top right says to deliver the item to such-and-such person, but I can't see any target marker anywhere. After wondering about it for a while I figured out that you can find and target the npc from a terminal at the settlement.
I actually like these things in ED which you have to figure out yourself, rather than the game doing excessive hand-holding. The entire game has been full of such things. There isn't an excessive amount of tutorials, and there are tons of things you just have to figure out for yourself, which is most of the time quite nice.
However, there comes a point where this becomes excessive and it's when I just can't figure out how to deliver the item. I speak to the npc in question, I select the "I have a delivery for you" dialogue option and... nothing. The item isn't delivered. The item definitely is in my backpack (I can even drop it and pick it up again).
I think this might be a bug? Searching online I am finding some really confusing and vague discussions about such things, from over a year ago.
