Newcomer / Intro Can't escape system

Hi,

I've been playing since the beta came out, although I can only manage the odd hour now and again.

I'm kinda stuck in the cluster of systems where you begin, and I'd like to explore further. I've gone as far as I can in each direction (I think), but always end up in a system with no space stations, and therefore no way of getting fuel.

Am I being thick, or do I need an upgrade (eg fuel scoops) to progress?

You can upgrade Frameshift drive, fuel tank so you can jump further.
I left the starter system afte a couple of hours and havent looked back

Even if you do get a fuel scoop you may hit a problem with your limited jump range if you are in a Sidewinder. You may want to see if you can afford to upgrade your Frame Shift Drive.

Before I started playing I went on youtube and found some getting started videos by a guy called Adoredtv, I highly recommend searching for him on youtube and watching his Getting started #1 video onwards, he's up to #22 or #23
Even though Im a pretty seasoned player I still wait for and watch his latest releases.
