Cant exit game (esc key fail)

Esc key doesn't bring up game menu all of a sudden so how to exit game?

Don't really want to end task as i've got a shedload of exploration data on board and i'm not sure if i'd lose it all. i think you don't but don't want to risk it.

Is this a known issue? new one for me.

It's a know issue yes and you should be fine to end task it without losing anything.
