Can't figure out how to align construction / paths / barriers

In the first video, I'm trying to align a path with an existing barrier. As the barrier does not seem to have a grid of its own, I find it impossible to keep margins consistent. The second video is an attempt to construct a simple building, add a pathway and a barrrier. I fail to complete the later, as I can't manage to align it with the grid and manual adjustments without the option of locking either x/y momvent makes things worse. The barriers posts also act oddly, as they may turn by 45° upon adjustment. (The builds here are kept as simple as possible, creative shapes are an even larger issue to me.)

What am I doing wrong - how can this be acomplished?

1. Problem: First, build a small path on each side of the square with "Snap alongside barriers" turned on. Then, build the edges. If you can't get the edges figured out, try turning angle snap on or off and try turning "snap alongside barriers" off. If it isn't important where exactly the barrier square is, build path first, then barrier.

2. Problem: I'm not completely sure what you want to do. Do you try to put the barrier right onto the edge of the path, like the wall, so the curb stone is inside the barrier / not visible? That is not possible because barriers collide with paths, but building pieces don't. What you can do instead, is just use the architecture walls as barrier and then place the null barrier inside them. (The null barrier can be placed onto or directly next to paths). Just be aware that: you need around 4m of regular barrier for the door, currently modern glass wall 2 and 3 have a bug that visitors can not see through them even though they are clearly transparent, I have encountered a bit of weird animal behaviour regarding animals getting stressed from visitors on the other side of an architecture wall and a stress-reducing one-way glass is not possible to do with null barriers and architecture walls.

Thank you for your reply. So far I've only had time to test issue #1. With angle snapping active the paths misbehave, with snapping off mostly too. However, thanks to your input, it seems that angle snapping 'On' and set to 0° mostly works. It's going to take some fiddling to get margins uniform, but is something I could accept. Maybe adding margin settings would be an option.

What I do:

Place a building the size of the habitat with walls*.
Select path, select snap to grid and select the building grid.
Place paths around the building.
Place barrier along the wall (You can use "null" barrier to get closer to the paths.

*Walls of buildings act as barriers as well, which works a lot easier than the methods described above imho.
