I want to unlock Selene Jean. I mined and refined 500 minerals, but only got 2 painite out of those 500 refined in a pristine metallic ring. I need 8 more painite to unlock her. I’m preparing for DW 2 and time is passing fast until departure. Any advice to find painite? Can’t find any painite hotspots, and so I’m currently trying mining a platinum hotspot hoping there’ll be some painite, but none so far...

Use this to find the closest pristine metallic.
Mine a RES site, if possible. Low, Hi, doesn't matter.
Find a good rock, shoot it, and beat feet.

Or if you want to do it the easy way, fly up to Bhagui and wait at Leavitt port for me. I'll bring you some Painite.

I used Inara to find pristine metallic ring. I’m not at RES site tho, went to a platinum hotspot hoping that might help.

Unfortunately, no. I'm on PC.
I'd go with Llama's suggestion. One thing folks don't realize is that rings have composition types. Some have lots of palladium, and no gold. Some have lots of Osmium and no platinum. Some have lots of painite and no Samarium.
If Darth had good results in his ring, you should probably try there.

Ya what a relief. Stinks that there wasn’t time to run it over to Selene right away, but I’ll do it tomorrow night. Then my last thing in prep for DW2, I’d love to reach Dangerous combat rank so I could engineer Life Support lightweight. But I’m only expert I think. That ones not so important though, I have all the other stuff engineered nicely.
