Can't find any Federal rank up missions

Stick to a system where the controlling faction is federation aligned and run missions, build some local rep with them and it will pop up sooner or later. I used to have problems finding rank missions until I started visiting stations where I have at least some local rep.
Yup, as hex has said, they have to know you and trust you so head back to your old fed stomping grounds or start a new one. Do not worry though as any new fed rank is not lost, it just builds up in the background.
Also agree with what has been said, mode swopping is also your friend, all the cool kids are doing it...
Well, I used to think the rank up missions didn't show up too until I found out I have to look for missions with Federal Navy in the title. They changed the title in 2.1 IIRC, it was clearer before IMHO.
Otherwise, the rank mission system works ok for me; I'm Rear Admiral now and did several of them in the process.

Yes, I can confirm high local rep is the way! just got Admiral at tuns wart, (had max rep with all local factions due to donation missions about a 11 months ago and i can tell you that was not cheap!) already got King with the imps so all I need now to complete my cards is Elite in combat.
