Can't find missions or system map

Forgive this lowly noob for asking, but I only just now got in to Elite and although I've been excited for it since it was first announced, I haven't kept up with it very closely. I searched the forums first and I apologize if these questions have been answered a thousand times.

1. I can't figure out how to open the system map I keep seeing screenshots of. The galaxy map is the only thing I can find. Is it not in the game yet?

2. More importantly, perhaps, is that I can't figure out how to actually locate the missions I picked up at Azeban City. I don't see any waypoints and since I can't find a system map, I have no idea where to go.

I found a pdf manual for Elite but it didn't talk about either of these things.

The Systemap is currently not available.

About Missions:

Killmissions are rather "hard" most are kill some pirates/police/military in system a,b,c

Assasination Missions like the Piratelord are well i dont know luck? That you encounter him. I stick now with the bring cargo, transport cargo missiones. They have a real Destination.

I dont know if we will see any Waypointsystem for those kinds of things

I've found the missions, and picked up a couple. One is to bring Azeban some supplies, and the other is to kill a Pirate Lord. The question is: where is the Pirate Lord? How do I find him? How do I even know which star system he's in?

Thanks for the replies

Thanks for the replies. I've found and picked up a couple missions already. I guess what I should have asked is how to locate the objectives. For example, I have a pirate lord to kill, but have no idea how to find him.

I believe at the moment you're supposed to use a combination of logic and/or intuition and/or patience to fulfil your missions' criteria.

It's unusual in this day and age I know, but you may have to just go out there and have a look around. :)

If he would be so easy to find, you wouldn't get this mission :)

Read mission brief, it says system or systems you can find him, also in future you will read news feeds and local news to get more information about your...."client" :)

Thanks Pecisk. I'll pay more attention to the text. I do actually like the idea of having to track things down without waypoints and arrows holding my hand. Like someone else above me said it is a bit unheard of in this day and age which is why it was throwing me off.
