First time doing one of these missions. I have been told to go to a wreckage and pick up a ship schematic. Arrived at wreckage. Wrecked ship has two red doors that I opened up with my maverick tool. There was a crate, which I opened up. Got attacked by criminals. Ran them over with SRV. Such fun. Collected everything that I can find. However I have not found the schematics. Searched around the ship. There are 5 or 6 navigation points, all lead me back to ship wreckage. What am I doing wrong? Bug? Is there another type of container that I should be looking for?

It once took me five relogs to get the item required on one of these missions. But yeah, as @SteveWW57 says, that does mean you can get stocked up.
I posted the same on another thread. I get this issue with missions where the item is in a container. Either the item is not in the container, or the container isn't there at all. It happens most often with the crashed ship with the two rows of rocks behind it. Occasionally the ship has a working power regulator, which is a bonus.
I think the only solution is to relog, or go into sc and come back, it's been like that as long as I've played Odyssey 
I've also found that once I get back in the ship it shows 2 POIs for the same location, but do check the the ship targets, as sometimes they show a working power reg, so well worth it to cut up a panel or two.
