Engineers Cant Find - Specialised Legacy Firmware

I'm looking in every Signal Source, especially these Decoded (?) ones. But after 30 SS nothing at all. No data thingy to scan, only materials, cargo etc.

Any idea where to get them for sure?

There's a system near Shinrarta Dezhra - possibly LTT or LHS 447 or something - that has a military installation near the star. I think that may give it out sometimes from their satellites. Or try USSs with satellites in them around earth-like worlds. Also in general encoded emmissions and combat aftermath can have private data beacons to scan.

praseodymium - mining in that system where Farseer engineer is. Took about 10mins but don't forget to equip mining lasers and refinery. oh and don't forget to buy ammo for limpets before you get there and realise that.

Got these data points and scan. You will get more then you will ever need.

Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMfPk7yra3Y. You'll get the idea.

Then go on a planet with a low security installation (not port), drive (SRV) around the installation and make a mental note on the locations of the various data points around the installation and plan a route from data point to another. Usually installations have three or four data points. When you're ready, scan one and a timer will start to run. Drive to the next data point and scan it. You should get more time to the timer. Then off to the next data point and so forth until you get all the points. Voilà, there's your specialized legacy firmware farming tactics. I find this method a lot more rewarding than hunting USS:s (in fact I hunted them for three hours and found nothing, with the data point scanning I got 15 in half an hour).

Rinse and repeat in another surface installation. After a couple go:s you'll start to learn the locations of the data points in various installation configurations.

Then off to felicity to get some dirty drives.

A slightly bigger list for SLF specifically=)

Man, this is about the easiest thing I've ever had to do in this game.

Go to the Ugrivirii system, the Jefferies Port station. There is an Empire ship dock there so you'll know you're at the right place. There are also 2 or 3 satellites there. Those satellites are where you'll get Specialized Legacy Firmware.

Sit outside the station and log in over and over again. Every time you log back in, the satellites are refreshed. All you have to do is target them, nothing else. You're ship's scanner will latch onto all kinds of data, including SLFs.

In about 45 minutes, I captured about 75 SLFs and probably 200 other data items. Pretty easy.

One more thing, I'm not sure but I think you get a slightly better result from the scans if you slowly move your ship toward the satellite you're scanning while the scan is in process.

Don't get too close to the Imperial ships and docks. I once lost a ship that way, destroyed by her majesty's forces.

Ok I'm there and I've been looking all over and I can't find any satellites. Does using Horizons make a difference?
