Engineers Can't find that vital engineering component, huh?

You could even tag planets with 'prospected' by just like 'discovered' by.
I would love for the scanner proposal floating around to be implemented along with this and a much larger place to leave notes in the bookmarks.

well I always log and fire up google to find things seems the only way rather than ' it may be on the ground but you have to guess what type of planet it may be on ' :) and thats the easy ones :) I still have not been able to face the you have to pirate traders for this and that components yet.
Well heading back to Sag A for my 5th attempt to survive the return trip so wont have to worry about it for a few weeks :)

I'm afraid it's up to your to engage your brain with this game. It isn't a game that takes you by the hand and leads you through the content.

It doesn't have things like a cinematic scanner to show you where to find stuff, or a message "you're being hit - take cover!" in combat!

An updated manual would be great but unlikely to see the light of day due to this dev team relying so heavily on the players producing tutorials/videos etc (how many of those are out of date now?).

The hint text from the engineers is pretty much useless. Totally inadequate information is supplied ingame to achieve engineer objectives.
Searching online seems to be the standard lazy route the devs have pushed on people.

Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Good luck with polonium, can't wait to see.

Also known as a vast majority know that the components list where they are found, but there are 10 or so that are either so vague or so rare that their description is absolutely no help and are the subject of all the threads about where do I find X.

Polonium?

Try the teacups of Russian dissidents.

I'd try metallic planets and asteroid belts... What, with it being a metal.

What I have found through extensive, rigorous, thorough, concise, in-depth testing and research is that the RNG machine with give you copious amounts of exactly what you don't need, until you don't need it. So if you go out of your way to not need what you need, you will be most Triumphant! :p

I suspect you can do it 2 ways.

1/ find out what you can get, and grind for the requirements.

2/ grab what you can, and then work out what to do with it.

Remember. If you make your weapons more efficient you can put more pips in shields for the same firepower- so upgrading your weapons will help out with shields.

Learn to work with what you have...... Resourcefulness.

The info they give us is mostly useless. It may say uss or on planet surface. It point me to right direction not enough. Because there is things that restrict the spawn for material that they don't give us. Like the game tell me that this material is found on uss, but in reality its found in uss in this kind of system in that kind of bgs state. Or they say its found on planets, but in reality its only found on one type of planet. If you don't read external sources you won't never find what you want because you follow the text that tell you just land on planet and drive around so you search on rocky planet when there is 0 change for it to spawn on rocky planet and only spawn one metal planet. Same with mining. It say that found during mining but there is multiple types of rings with different level of reserves and materials spawn on some of them not all.

What's the problem if you need to visit Google to find out where to find stuff?Everyone playing this game must have the Internet.

It's not ideal, but it works.
