Newcomer / Intro Can't Find The Guy In A Mission

Hi everyone. I am wondering 'how' to 'meet' the fake/game guy that I am supposed to meet in a mission. It says something like ... go to "X" and meet Joe to get some data from him.

I have gone to that system, flown around and seen him say to follow his wake but I never seem to find him. Once I found his wake but it just disappeared as I got close and I can never seem to 'meet him' to talk or get data from him to complete the mission.
Did I write this clear enough? I hope so.. I am confused lol:S

Ok... You've figured out how to find them, just fly around the system you are told to go to in supercruise and they will turn up. No need to actually look for them, just get to the system and drop to minimum supercruise speed and wait. :)

Following the wake is a bit more tricky. After you get the message to follow them down to normal space, the best way to locate the low wake marker is to use the contacts tab in the left HUD. You will see a contact "Low Wake : NPC Name". Target that and fly towards it. You will need to get within range and at a safe speed to drop into it, and this may take a bit of practice. You have speed / distance indicators in your HUD (just as you do for stations and planets), so use them to get it so your speed drops into the safe range just before you get within distance range. Generally being within the blue 'sweet spot' speed on your throttle will do this. Once you've done it a few times it's quite straight forward.

You get a Safe To Disengage (or something) message just as you do when approaching a station, so drop from SC when that pops up and you will arrive in an instance with the NPC.
