Can’t finish passenger mission

I took on a passenger mission and now I can’t finish it’s I went to the planet, scanned the tourist beacon, message came up passenger was all good. Got back to dock and now I can’t turn in mission. As far as I can tell I got no cargo from him and idk what to do. This is my first passenger mission so idk if I messed it up. Thanks for taking the time to read or possibly respond.

Are there other destinations you need to visit? Usually these have a couple destinations.

I didn’t see any other destination. It said a planet, then when I got there it wanted me to land on said planet. Did that, scanned the tourist beacon the guy basically said thanks let’s go back. Went back and nothing. Then he said well if you ain’t going to take me to where I want to go then I’ll just leave and mission over.

As Jmanis said, these tourist sightseeing missions usually have more than one location that the NPC wants to visit, so it's possible that you missed that, and perhaps went to the final destination first, hence why you got the message saying return to base but were not able to complete the mission.

The mission description will always tell you what destinations the tourist wants to visit, and in which order, and from what I remember you must visit each location in the order it's listed in the mission description.

Also, Speedcuffs point is useful. If you ever have a mission that doesn't seem to be able to complete, look at its description in the transactions tab (left HUD) as if there's something stopping it completing that will be displayed, usually in red.

Just getting into these mission, i like them, gives depth to character imersion. However, accepting a mission, visiting the spot in question and then beeing redirected to a new destination which is permit locked is kinda..odd? I mean, i cannot possibly grind every system permit before accepting missions, right?

Aw well, guess its all a part of beeing a cmdr, ups and downs..

missions don't target permit locked systems (for that very reason) - if you managed to find one it would be interesting to know where they tried to send you.

It aleays pays to have a good look at what is required for each mission to ensure your ship can get there and there aren't any surprises like permit locked systems etc.
Also keep an eye on the reputation of your guest. Dodgy criminals can be a real pain.

I liked in the old elites how you needed to ask for a permit of the mission giver if one was needed, and how you could still go to a permit locked system without it; but you'd just get fined.

Honestly, i dont remember but i might have been van mannen`s star since i`m still in that neighbourhood and i have not moved away from the region. This destination was not listed as a part of the mission, it appeared as a "critical mission update" after the initial mission was done and the mission marker in the galaxy map actually vanished.

Oh, by the way, found this thread by searching, just now noticed its in the xbox section, im on PC..
