Can't fit 6A Prismatic Shield to Asp Explorer

Hey folks,

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

I'm trying to move a 6A prismatic shield from storage to my Asp Explorer but it says in red "Transfer Unavailable". I have a free 6 slot, plenty of power overhead and I don't already have a shield generator fitted.

What am I missing?

Are you sure the module in question is at your current location? Also, check that you don't have a shield installed already - only one shield at a time can be equipped.

They are, but the thrusters are rated up to over 1000t. I'm not sure it's possible to get an AspX that heavy if you tried.

Admittedly that's assuming that if someone is putting a prismatic on there they're also going for 5A. Any size 5 should be fine though.

As others have already alluded to, I would bet that you have a small shield generator already equipped. Happened to me yesterday as I was outfitting my Anaconda - "why can't I equip this 7C Bi-weave?"

People have mentioned thrusters but not asked if they're the stock size or whether downsized?

Downsized thrusters reduce the ability to move the ship once it goes beyond X mass, I had the same issue with my Phantom and undersized Thrusters when engineering some Prismatics for another ship.

Try putting the Asp's current thrusters into storage, the station/carrier you're at will equip E-rated thrusters of stock size and you should then be able to equip the heavier Prismatics.

At least that's all I can think it might be.

It's hard to think of a use case where you'd both fit a max size Prismatic shield and downsize the engines though. I guess it's not impossible, but even with 4Ds you have to go some adding mass to get over their mass limit. (You can't overload the mass limit of 5Es on an Asp hull. Even if you maximise the mass per slot you can get up to 835t Edit: Managed it. Can't overload 5Ds though.)

Hey folks, thanks for all the replies. EvoBeardy might have hit on it....I may have downrated thrusters on that ship. I'll go try again. Thanks.

Answering other questions:
  • I removed the previously fitted shield (and yes, we've all done that b4)
  • The shield is at my location...thanks
  • The slot I'm trying to fit it to is empty....so no cargo (but that's another thing most of us have done b4)

That did it....solved.

Thank you. Turns out I'd downrated my Thrusters to 4D which were fine until I wanted to put the heavier shields on.

Interesting....you get a message "Transfer unavailable", you'd think it could also give a reason, lol.

Anyway, I'm in business. Thanks for all the support folks :-D
