Engineers Can't get Interdicted or they run away

I'm flying an Asp Explorer fitted out to survive any interdiction (usually killing the interdicter). My build does no carry any guns/missiles of any sort. I carry mines. http://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/25A5A...402i2fv6.Iw18WQ==.Aw18WQ==?bn=Oldmanbills Asp

The last couple of days I've carried various cargoes (always have a few Engineer commodities on board) and have had very few interdictions. When I do get interdicted I get in front of the attacker and let them shoot at me while I spam mines. Their shields go down fast and I eat into their hull quickly. The problem is they like to run away if I don't kill them quickly. Is this the norm when using mines?

NPCs being much smarter about fleeing when appropriate is normal for 2.1, it's not your mines per se, it's any dmg that leads to them being close to losing shields.

if undamaged but low shields, NPCs try to retreat in order to charge shields
if damaged enough where they are in danger of dying, NPCs try to escape - e.g. Wake out

given that a successful escape means full heal, when you combine the smarter AI with full healing, it makes the NPCs pretty challenging if they come back while you are still low on shields or battle damaged / low on ammo.

So mines are good now? I recall people saying before 2.1 that they were useless. On a type 7 u would detonate your own mine apparently.
