Can't get it right

So I've been an explorer for a short time and also a bounty hunter for a while but now I wanted to try my hand at trading. I can't seem to get it right and I keep losing money on Gamble's like weapons and liquor. I'm in the starting systems near lhs 3447. Cn anyone give me some tips?

I've tried using the info from the commodities market always failed so i use the above site. works like clockwork and although some would say its cheating I'm most definitely not one of them.

i wish it was as easy as it was in 1984

If you can get out to Wolfe City in Chujohimba, I will be out there in about a hour, I can earn you a lot of money in about a hour.

Join the club.

I can't do anything but lose money on trading. [yesnod]
Rares are okay you are almost guaranteed a profit with them but normal trading requires more brain power than I can supply.
You need a database of prices at stations.
EliteOCR can take screenshots of the commodities screens and turn them into text. Other external apps can then upload them to a common dbase. (Sorry I cannot remember the names as I've not done much normal trading since gamma.)

Sorry Tyler I'm a little too paranoid for that. Also I die like every 20 minutes because I have a        sidewinder. The tools are working but I have to supplement that with trading missions. I started traveling to aulin today so hopefully the trading is better out that way

Definitely get out of the starter systems as Stasis Wolf mentioned above as soon as possible. Maybe wing up with some larger ships on a trade run, you'll get trade dividends to cash in trading in a wing, which can be a great money earner in early game.

Feel free to add me, and if I'm on a trade run you are more than welcome to tag along :)

Thanks I'll look you guys up. I definitely need too wing up. I haven't played in a long time so I'm not used to that

Unless you're really good at reading the trade routes on the galaxy map for supply/demand between systems, you NEED a trading tool like eddb.io to tell you what to sell where for maximum profit.

And you should really upgrade to something like a Hauler if you're going to stick to trading for now.

Well I hadn't played in a while so I started over and started with the sidewinder. I've been up to 80k back down to nothing after a huge gamble and not being able to dock at one of the stations... So right now I'm at 14k

Eddb for sure, I'm running around 6m am hour at the minute, as has been mentioned wing up with a larger ship and get paid some extra coin, I'm a sole trader too, been playing for just shy of 4 months and never been in a wing, been solo all this time, mixing between open play and solo, I need to find someone to wing up with just for the experience, if you want a share of my trade run, 448t of slaves one way, 448t of superconductors the other, rinse and repeat, then take a leap of faith and trust not all CMDR's are bad ones. My GT is thegingeerone. Good luck on your travels.

This works for me. Give it a try.

Don't worry about trying to find the perfect from-to route.
Do missions and trade at the same time. The missions will bounce you from station to station and give you opportunities.
The best missions for doing this are the simple one way delivery and trade ones.
When deciding what to buy just look at the high value supply items that are below galactic average.
Always buy below the galactic average. Always sell above galactic average. Profit every time.
Don't fill your hold with a single commodity. When buying, get about a third or fourth of your hold. You will end up with 3-4 different commodities on board. Gives you a variety and doesn't lock you into having to find a specific economy.
Just keep moving and keep a mix of commodities and you should be able to trade 80 percent of the time.
Do this for a while and you will start to be able to spot what commodities to try and buy at each economy type.

Basically you turn your cargo hold into a store. As you move around look for deals below average you can buy and keep them in inventory till you find a buyer. Don't worry about hauling X from A to B. Just stock up on X, Y, and Z and sell when you get the opportunity.

It's a good way to stay in game and progress. EDDB will get you rich faster but doing this gets you Rank and Rep at the same time.

Partner with LostLegend and you partner with me (kinda like Buy one get one free)

And from there on it is in dividends we trust

You cant make money from trading with such a low amount of money; it will take forever. In the early days with your Sidie you should be doing courier missions. No cargo space required and easy money. Once you have a Hauler and a few hundred k credits you can look at trading.

Trading in a sidey is not very productive to say the least.
It might be more lucrative to take on a few simple missions and upgrade your Sidey asap and do some light bounty hunting.

In my noob phase I upgraded the Sidewinder to the max and used it for bounty hunting for a long time.
It is a very exciting little ship and you stand to lose very little if you get shot down.
