Can't get star info from Galmap mouseover.

This is really hit and miss for me but mostly MISS.

So I'm in the galaxy map and I've filtered for non-sequence stars along my route and I mouseover the stars looking for black-holes. Easy you say - up pops the info! No No No.

Maybe 10% of the time I get the info, even when I actually click on the star to focus it the info doesn't always pop up. Then again on the odd occasion every time I touch a star the info is right there.

Is this a connection thing? Because I've looked for a way to consistently get this info to pop up but I've not found it and now this is really slowing my journey down.

Any ideas?

Same here. It was quite good until 2.1 or 2.2, especially for bookmarks which were clickable from across the galaxy. Really annoying. Not sure if it got worse as I changed to 21:9, which surely screwed up the System Map for me. But I think both issues are known bugs.

Thanks, slightly less stressed. I just gave up playing tonight as I can't get any sense from the galmap at all :(

Not sure if you're on Xbox, PC or PS4. At least on PC, there were some resolution issues a while back - try a different resolution and see if that helps.

Yeah, it seems to have gotten harder to click a star in the map. Try zooming in. That usually works for me. If not, I pan or rotate the map, which seems to do the trick. It's very frustrating, I mouse over the star, the info panel pops up and then immediately hides.

[up] Thanks for all the ideas . I've already tried most of them with no great or repeatable success :(

It seems to work in clusters. You may get 10 stars in a group just popping right up when you mouse over and then none - no matter how you tilt & twist the map.

Of course even if you do eventually get the data the whole point of the exercise is lost as I'm trying to spot systems en-route and messing about like that just wastes time.

EDIT - playing on the PC.

This is a known issue since 2.2 actually. Frontier purposefully downgraded the galaxy map so that star selection is centered on the blue selection circle now, not the mouse cursor. They have not revealed the reason for this, but it's suspected it might have been for performance reasons. In any case, yes the galmap is much less user friendly than it used to be, especially for explorers. I doubt we will ever get the old functionality back.
