Newcomer / Intro Can't hand in a mission.

I picked up two missions from Ackerman Market - one to bring back two slaves the other to bring back 3 narcotics. I had no trouble smuggling them in and both missions looked ok to hand in, I handing in the slave mission first as that was the big money but as soon as I did that the narcotics mission has its "Give Cargo" in red. what happened? Did I have a drop in reputation? I didn't notice any overall drop other than the blue/red line after I handed in the slave mission but there was no rep movment on my status page. And if I did lose rep then what's the point of smuggling? How would I get caught? I flew into that station like a rat out of a trap using my heat sinks = No scan!.

Ideas?

Only things i can come up with are:
a) the mission destination is a different station
b) the mission timer has expired

Sorry, can't think of any other reasons ?

This happens if the cargo isn't the right type. Does the mission require the narcotics to be stolen and yours were just a regular purchase?

If you had been scanned on the way in your would instantly have gotten a fine so it wouldn't be that.
