Can't hide HUD

I try pressing CTRL+ALT+G to hide HUD, but nothing happens. How do I hide HUD?

That's the correct key combination. Does anything happen when you press that? If not then something is probably stealing the keypress; check for other programs you might have installed that use hotkeys.

You shift+alt+G is the key(s) to hide HUD

why doesnt this hide everything on the hud? it still shows "comms" in upper left, and shows the icons of what i have selected, and the ship icon on bottom mid-right
