Newcomer / Intro Can't Land?

Tried searching but I can't find anything.

Sometimes when I try to land the little line up computer (minigame) never appears. I was told I have to fly in the right direction so I do that now but sometimes it still doesn't appear and I can't land.

Is this a bug?

I have, on occasion, experienced the same thing, even when facing the correct way. I'm assuming it's a bug. Can anyone confirm ?

Might be a occasional bug, has happened to me a few times (always at outposts, not in stations).

I try landing within the pad circle and then slowly moving forward, sometimes it just suddenly registers, and I am properly landed. Also try flying away and coming back, asking for permission to land again. Or, Looping-up over the landing pad and coming-in again.

The docking-aid (little mini-game!) should appear even if you come-in facing the wrong way (which helps you know you are back-to-front!).

I noticed this happens when you request docking too soon after another ship has left the platform. When the platform drops down to rotate and reset itself while already assigned to you, it doesn't properly register. Just cancel and request docking again.

I have also experienced this. Super annoying! And yes, it is clearly a bug.
I fly out of the hangar, abort landing, request new landing and then it is ok.

It's happened to me a few times.

Either cancelling and re-requesting clearance to land or trying to land backwards usually works. Just turn the ship and face the wrong direction and it appears then you spin around again to land... Annoying, but works... So far...

I think we've all experienced this issue when docking at outposts, along with 'denied requests'. I decided to get myself a docking computer, which although some other players have stated don't dock properly all the time & have lost ships through it, but i have yet to lose a ship by using one & it gets me docked quicker & without denied requests.

Yes, known issue.

You can still land if you can manage it without the computer assistance...

yeah i think its a bug, its happened to me a few times at outposts, its the same bug i think as the disappearing platform lights, just hover over the platform, and if you dont get the loitering warning just land anyway.

I've had this to sometimes. Don't do what I did once and cancel docking req when in a station.

Been there!!!!!!

It's exactly what I did the first time the bug happened to me. Surprising how fast you can make it out of that letter box when you really need to!

I have the bug happen to me a few times since, but you just drop down as normal, although you do question if you're on the right pad if the pad not lighting up bug strikes at the same time.

I had this happen quite frequently... THEN... I noticed that you need to point at the building, and away from the "ramp" - with the ramp being the part that, upon launch, the launch-platform auto-rotates you towards.
When I touch down, I rotate to face the "building", and it reliably completes.
Additionally, I've found roll-control to be MUCH faster than YAW; If you need to change direction, hold in place, roll over one direction, pitch up or down, then roll again (or both at the same time). It's about 3x faster than leveling to the landing-pad and using YAW controls to rotate.
